No bags!!

It's exactly 9.40 am on the 20th of July on my side of the world, so....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAKURADANIELLE~!!!

Hope you'd still be able to sneak in a bit of birthday fun despite your busy work schedule.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This last weekend was the scheduled fumigation of our entire office building so unless we wanted to be 'exposed', they suspended any sort of overtime work. YAAY.
And so i was finally able to watch HP. It was still raining, but.
My memory's really rusty now.... )
too young to get hitched
Time for cheek-pinching.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARA-CHAN~!!!
You might be a year older, not necessarily wiser (it's your prerogative, but who said the wise has more fun???), and I know I tease you quite a lot, (yes, even when your back is turned) but you know I adore you, and you'd always, ALWAYS be little-girl Sara-chan to me.
That was a long 'argument', so just suck it up.
LOL!!!
Who's seen THE PROPOSAL?
How did Ohno say he'd propose again? Fuzzy memory, mine is. )
Testosterone up!!!
I KNOW I'M LATE. ONLINE, punctuality was never my strongest suit, but here goes....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JLIAN!!!
I can't draw as amazingly as you do, I can't translate as well as you do... (will Elvish count, though? But even in that, I suck, so...) Hope you had a great day on the day you turned a year older and wiser.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok... hardly the next Origins film I had hoped for, but this sounds promising.

Forgive me, but as much as he had shown he could do so so so much more, I still get horrid (and hilarious) flashbacks of him in Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place.

This wolf ain't howlin'... )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laugh all you want.... )
...gawd. There's a storm in my country right now. Literal storm. I hope it lets up on Saturday so I can go spelunking. I missed it two weekends ago. I'm not about to miss it this time!
Hey, I'm a JB, too.
Ran across this article on Yahoo! today. Why Can't James Bond Catch Jason Bourne?
I am of the Pierce-Brosnan-as-Bond generation. Only caught a few Sean Connery-Roger Moore Bond films in between. Couldn't say I cared much. But I am aware of the culture that the franchise stood for. And what it called for. And what it cultivates. A suave spy (who isn't really a spy cause he flaunts who he is, right?) with the swanky tools, unruffle-able hair, no-crease suits, high-tech tools and scantily-clad women. 'Shaken, not stirred' is how he likes it, right?
To say I didn't enjoy the films, though, would be hypocritical of me. These kinds of films, you don't need a high IQ or even exert a lot of effort in thinking just to understand it. Just...go along with the ride. The fact that it objectify women does not even annoy me because COME ON. This is filmmaking, and if it rakes in the money, I can't blame the filmmakers. Hell, if I didn't like it, I'd turn away and not even watch a minute of it. I may not like some parts of it, or some implications of the film, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't enjoy it, right? (And I am one to talk against Bond films objectifying women; aren't I doing the same with my men? *chuckles*)
I saw Quantum of Solace last week and I've been seeing mixed reviews. Some wanted more sex. Some liked it for the minimal sex. Others enjoyed the action. Some thought it wasn't enough. What did I think?
Everything should change with the times. Agree? )
Now on to the other (and better) JB. ...No, not me. But Jason Bourne.
Jason Bourne is one of my favorite characters from a book. While I don't really think much of Robert Ludlum's writing or prose, I think he tells good stories, at least those that grip you. He does espionage better than anyone I've read so far.
I've read Ludlum's Bourne trilogy, and I thought everything should've stopped with The Bourne Ultimatum, the third one. But no, some guy Eric van Lustbader had to pick it up and wrote more Bournes (I've only read his Bourne Legacy. I'm still wondering if I should read his Bourne Sanction and Bourne Betrayal. *sigh* I don't mean to put Lustbader down so low, because I kinda enjoyed his Ninja series, but. I'm just saying Bourne is better left to Ludlum.
Why I prefer Jason over James...or any other spy...OMG. Jack Bauer is JB too!!! )
Why am I laughing?
Sorry for posting so soon yet again.
Better late than never.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICOLE!!!!! Keep that halo twisted, a'ight!!!
And also to  [profile] litany_shHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope I get to know you more!!!!
I love it when there are birthdays. It means I'm not the only one undergoing the aging process. Ahem.
Today (Sunday) was pretty much...a full day. After church, accompanied my mom to buy some presents to send to my grandma, then went off to buy some jackets and sweats for my nephew (he's rendering me broke), brought them to this new resto and stuffed myself with pasta. Then met with my BFF Sheryll after lunch so we can watch THE MUMMY 3 together, but it turns out she hasn't had lunch yet, so we went to Kitaro's. She CANNOT eat by herself, so I stuffed myself with the house special kani salad and some ebi sushi. Watched the movie and she kept insisting I dig into her chocolate stash. Got out around 7pm, she has some craving for Italian ice cream so we went to Fiorgelato's while listening to this jazz band perform their set. Had banana split with ice cream of three flavors: Menta, Fragola and Pistacchio.
I had to insist we walk it off for a good half an hour before heading home. I'm so full. I looked at the banana split and went, "THIS IS SO SINFUL." Good thing it tasted go~od.
Ok. Babble, babble, babble. Forgive me.
On to the other purpose of this entry.
What've you been up to lately?
I just watched Wu Chun and Calvin Chen on local telly perform the theme of Romantic Princess. Yes. Just the two of them. They actually performed during a break in this singing tilt Pinoy Dream Academy.
And bite me now, but the scholars of the singing tilt sang waaaay better than these two. *shields self from Fahrenheit fans* WHAT?! I think Jiro's talented! Will that do?
I kinda adore Calvin's British accent. Yeah.
And they shared the stage with Billy Crawford. Hmm. Not perform, but just talking.
Just came from watching WANTED at the cinema for the second time. And this time, I ACTUALLY managed to watch, as in watch it. Because the first time last weekend was with a couple of friends I haven't seen for a while, and had they mentioned they wanted to catch up with stuff about RL, I might have dissuaded them from going into the cinema. So basically, the first time, I had half my mind on the movie, and the other half on them asking so many things, 'catching up'.
Who dares, wins
It's been raining in and out for the past week or so, and when Taiyou-sama decided to reveal itself in all its glory, I am down with this blasted colds. My nose is running too fast I cannot keep up. So in between blowing my nose every millisecond and counting the hours until I leave for some overtime at the office, I decided to clear my HD of the caps I took when I had this uncontrollable urge to just press the Space Bar while watching the videos.
It's been a good download week, hasn't it?
Scrunch your nose when laughing.
Minna, shiteru?
And, for good measure, I forcibly end this entry with this....
...in the face of pure awesomeness...
The opening narration was sooooo teen-speak-influenced.
I worked overtime yesterday yet again (it's become a Saturday habit), but not after a sesh at the salon having three inches of my hair chopped off. Now it's down to my pits. Later in the evening my BFF and I planned to meet up (she attended the 'most boring wedding ever', according to her) to catch a movie. Neither of us cared which movie, just AS LONG AS WE WATCH ONE.
The 15s CM of Maou. *sigh* *too speechless for words*
It's FATHER'S DAY!!!!
But my Dad's kinda ill. He has high blood pressure (it runs in the family, so I won't be surprised if I get it when I'm older) and I think it's acting up yet again. I feel bad for doing this, but I kinda scolded him yesterday 'cause he just loves to eat what his doc advised him not to. They say 'everything in moderation', but in his case 'it's a definite no-no'. He just doesn't seem to get it.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks. I hope he gets better.
Everyone, hug your pops! Happy Father's Day!!!!!
other than that: WHY OH WHY CAN'T THE VS ARASHI FILES BE HQ?
"I've got it sorted"
Sometimes I think I'm too nice. I ought to be more rude, duncha think?
I just got home from rendering OT on a Saturday morning then heading off to catch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian at around 4pm.
Now what other film to look forward to....Hmmm....I saw a preview for WANTED. Normally I won't watch an Angelina Jolie film, but I saw James McAvoy, and I was sold to it. Yes. Sometimes, I do not think.
Meanwhile, to raise my spirits up a little, I saw this for download:
The file is huuuuuuge....1.4G at least. But I am a happy Abyssinian fan. *is woozy*
'Nyt nyt, beauts! It's 11:15pm and I've to wake up early tomorrow. For Church. Honest. *flies away*
Crimes, Killers and Fathers
Warning: This is long. Seriously.
It’s summer out here. Or at least, it’s supposed to be. In my city, known as the country’s summer capital, there’s an anomaly in the weather. They blame it on La Niña. It’s summer and some days the rain just pours.  If there’s one thing I do not believe in, it’s weather forecasts.
I’m no longer sure what reputation I’ve acquired by my reading habits. You see, this lady from another office asked to borrow some books. In return, she’d also lend me some. So she asked for Dan Brown books and some James Patterson. The next day, I handed her all four Dan Browns and my two favorite and only (non-crime) Pattersons. She gives me – in a paper bag – ten books.  All of them by this author Tess Gerritsen, whom I’ve never read.
I’m not really much of a fan of crime-serial killer fiction. But here are ten such books. Then I thought, ‘what the hell, I’ll give it a try.’ Now I wonder, won’t I have a case of forensic overdose after reading all ten? Not that I’d do it in succession but… I’ve started on one, called Vanish. So far I think it’s alright. I just can’t help but think, “I can watch this on any crime TV drama.” But I’m still willing to be surprised.
Segue.
A new drama season has begun, but let me just say something about the drama that hooked me this past season. Bara no nai Hanaya. I’ve watched the finale more than a couple of weeks ago and only thought to write about it now.
I swear that phrase was the only thing I could think of when "Subject" glared at me. And I don't even really wonder why.
How did everyone spend their Easter weekend? This early I apologize for this one being long....
Backtracking...Without Borders...
I remember a time when Yamada Tarou and Hanazakari no Kimitachi e was on the same season....(I think I just made that sound so long ago) and there were other dramas worth checking out....
I am not watching anything with as much fervour at the moment. Aside from GALILEO (which I decided to watch when it finished its run...not feeling the urge to rush with it), I would have wanted IRYU 2, but I am not seeing subs anywhere, and my Japanese comprehension is still up to "here". Throw in medical jargon, and you might as well consider me dead. As for SP....Hmmm....*crosses fingers for subs*
So I decided to backtrack.
Speaking of F4....remember Ken Chu? Haven't seen him in a while. But he's made a film with a Filipina actress (whom I totally adore) Iza Calzado (who also finished filming THE ECHO with Jesse Bradford. She's THAT good, and beautiful, too.
So the holidays is just around the corner, right? But in the case of Filipinos, Christmas has already begun as early as September (when the "-ber (brrr) months" came in). We're probably the earliest to observe that season. And the latest to end it (at around end of January, practically ends when Valentine's Day comes in).
That's not where weird ends. We pardon our former President (jailed for plunder), a blast kills a solon IN FRONT of the Congressional building, the administration claims the Philippine Peso is growing stronger when it actually IS the American Dollar weakening.....
Enough. Sorry. I didn't mean to go there. :)
[Review] Letters From Iwo Jima
I'm still in the middle of downloading the finale of Hana Yori Dango 2.
I know, I know, the rest of the world has seen it except for me......SO. WHAT. *rolls eyes*
At least I still have anticipation working for me....... (Yeah, that is me trying to comfort myself for being late in getting round to downloading it.)
MEANWHILE! Finally, I was able to watch Letters From Iwo Jima. Damn the international distributors for not working harder than they should. Aaarrrggghhhh!!!! The DVD would be out come April, so for sure I would grab a copy of that. It is probably the only reason why I await April with eagerness. Apart from that....nothing else, really. April is a tac month, and it sure is going to make us work more like asses at work. I so do not like the sound of that.
On to my review.....
Slam Dunk The Movie??????
from Kung Fu Cult Cinema
Japanese Manga 'Slam Dunk' adapted as Jay Chou starrer
08 Mar 2007
Considered one of the best selling mangas of all time, Slam Dunk, is now in production.
It's US$10 million budget is said to be the largest Taiwanese made film in history.
The film stars Jay Chou, Charlene Choi (one half of Hong Kong's 'Twins'), and Chen Bo-lin.
So it comes out sometime February 2008.
Jay Chou and TWINS fans will probably be elated. I am more a SLAM DUNK fan, though. After what 'they' did to Initial D (you know, Japanese setting, names, sport/technique....but by Chinese actors speaking Cantonese), I am not too keen on this.
Dang.....
Ogur Shun would've made a wonderful Kaede Rukawa. He's tall, gangly, and just a damn good actor.....
