Blue, blue, blue....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BECKY~!!!!

Need yet another retreat? :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Aki-san!!! GET WELL SOON!!!!!
- Haven't seen HP yet. Maybe this weekend? If this storm relents, that is.
- I just remembered. Who's seen "I Come With The Rain" yet? I'm waiting for it to be released here and IMDB dates it as released on 2008 and I'm like, "Whaaaaa????" KimuTaku, Shawn Yue, Lee Byung-hun, and my still-enduring crush Josh Hartnett (liked him since I saw him on this obscure flick "The Faculty"). I cannot NOT see it!
- So, except for the second, third and fourth line of this post, this entry can be summed up in one word.
SHALLOW.
I was looking for a show to watch that does not take itself seriously.
Then I realized... which show does????
And I realize that a huge part of the reason why television is one of the best source of escapism is precisely that reason.
And if they're filling to the eyes, so much the better. XD
I'll try not to be too spoilery.
First chapter into Book 1, The Wizard's First Rule, and already there are differences on how they 'attacked' the series. Despite that, I liked them both equally.
Check out that torso, y'all. Yum.
OK. I just sounded hungry back there....
Craig Horner as Richard Cypher. The... err.... prophesied Seeker.
They should've let him keep his accent. Seriously. I am weak-kneed when it comes to guys with accents. (SHALLOW)
This role - and character - is a huge one. Is he amazing at it? I won't go that far. Is he decent? More than decent. What I like, though, is how we can see him metamorphose from a woodsman to the Seeker. Physicality-wise, he's got it.
Plus, I like his bod. (SHALLOW)
So, Bridget Regan as Kahlan Amnell. One of my newer two girl crushes. XDD
One of the very few remaining Confessors, tasked to aid the Seeker in his quest.
She looks so.... regal.
She has such a luminous face, one that can convey so many things with just one look. I like how contradictory AND conflicted her character is. And she kicks major arse, so physicality? She got that one down, too. And considering she only has TWO costumes all throughout the 22 episodes of the season, let me just say I love her wardrobe. LOL.
And they look so good together.
More than the adventures, the fantasies, I guess what hooked me on this was... the love story. Yeah, yeah, roll your eyes. Who doesn't find tales of star-crossed lovers the least bit intriguing, huh?
Here are two people who know they are crazy about each other, no one else can come between us, EXCEPT WHAT THEY ARE. And I like how they do not whine about it much. It's just there... that 'obstacle' a palpable presence without them referring much to it.
Chemistry? They have it. In large amounts. An episode that has them possessed by an ancient Seeker and Confessor just... steamed with that chemistry.
Meet Darken Rahl, the antagonist of the series. He rules over D'Hara, wants to conquer the rest of the world... and only the Seeker stands in his way.
Taking their cue off the story of Herod having all male firstborn babies killed, he does the same, but of course, Richard was saved and kept hidden to one day come back and bite him royally in the ass.
LOTR fans.... remember him???????
Craig Parker.
Haldir, loyal to Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel of Lothlorien; who welcomed the Fellowship and led them to Caras Galadhon. XDDD
Let's see....
Wasn't too satisfied with him. I wanted to be more.... terrified of him. He was supposed to be this powerful sorcerer, a tyrant. Sure we see how the people hate and fear him, how he is oppressive, but... *shrugs* Not enough malevolence. I can totally imagine Richard killing him easily.
Still. He's pretty, too. (SHALLOW)
Zeddicus (name's too complicated for me to even bother to remember). Wizard of the First Order, the one who took Richard away that night and kept him hidden until he was needed. Also aiding the Seeker, along with the Confessor, on his quest to... err, kill Darken Rahl.
He's the weakest of the three main actors, IMO. He does provide comic relief, though.
The series introduced a myriad of characters that the three encounter as they try to get closer and closer to Rahl. But what fascinated me most?
The MordSith.
Dominatrix-type warriors who serve Darken Rahl, lives off pain and also uses it as their tool, practically no form of magic works against them.
And they're clad in skintight red leather, just...
Phew.
Maybe I was also influenced by how the actress Jessica Marais played her role as Denna (to the hilt!) but I enjoyed her character. Sadist and masochist. LOL.
That last pic was just... coz of the upper body. LOL. (SHALLOW!)
See how shallow this was? LOL.
I would've expected the film to be shown here too, since part of it was shot in my country. *sigh*
