Blue, blue, blue....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BECKY~!!!!

Need yet another retreat? :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Aki-san!!! GET WELL SOON!!!!!
- Haven't seen HP yet. Maybe this weekend? If this storm relents, that is.
- I just remembered. Who's seen "I Come With The Rain" yet? I'm waiting for it to be released here and IMDB dates it as released on 2008 and I'm like, "Whaaaaa????" KimuTaku, Shawn Yue, Lee Byung-hun, and my still-enduring crush Josh Hartnett (liked him since I saw him on this obscure flick "The Faculty"). I cannot NOT see it!
- So, except for the second, third and fourth line of this post, this entry can be summed up in one word.
SHALLOW.
I was looking for a show to watch that does not take itself seriously.
Then I realized... which show does????
And I realize that a huge part of the reason why television is one of the best source of escapism is precisely that reason.
And if they're filling to the eyes, so much the better. XD
I'll try not to be too spoilery.
First chapter into Book 1, The Wizard's First Rule, and already there are differences on how they 'attacked' the series. Despite that, I liked them both equally.
Check out that torso, y'all. Yum.
OK. I just sounded hungry back there....
Craig Horner as Richard Cypher. The... err.... prophesied Seeker.
They should've let him keep his accent. Seriously. I am weak-kneed when it comes to guys with accents. (SHALLOW)
This role - and character - is a huge one. Is he amazing at it? I won't go that far. Is he decent? More than decent. What I like, though, is how we can see him metamorphose from a woodsman to the Seeker. Physicality-wise, he's got it.
Plus, I like his bod. (SHALLOW)
So, Bridget Regan as Kahlan Amnell. One of my newer two girl crushes. XDD
One of the very few remaining Confessors, tasked to aid the Seeker in his quest.
She looks so.... regal.
She has such a luminous face, one that can convey so many things with just one look. I like how contradictory AND conflicted her character is. And she kicks major arse, so physicality? She got that one down, too. And considering she only has TWO costumes all throughout the 22 episodes of the season, let me just say I love her wardrobe. LOL.
And they look so good together.
More than the adventures, the fantasies, I guess what hooked me on this was... the love story. Yeah, yeah, roll your eyes. Who doesn't find tales of star-crossed lovers the least bit intriguing, huh?
Here are two people who know they are crazy about each other, no one else can come between us, EXCEPT WHAT THEY ARE. And I like how they do not whine about it much. It's just there... that 'obstacle' a palpable presence without them referring much to it.
Chemistry? They have it. In large amounts. An episode that has them possessed by an ancient Seeker and Confessor just... steamed with that chemistry.
Meet Darken Rahl, the antagonist of the series. He rules over D'Hara, wants to conquer the rest of the world... and only the Seeker stands in his way.
Taking their cue off the story of Herod having all male firstborn babies killed, he does the same, but of course, Richard was saved and kept hidden to one day come back and bite him royally in the ass.
LOTR fans.... remember him???????
Craig Parker.
Haldir, loyal to Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel of Lothlorien; who welcomed the Fellowship and led them to Caras Galadhon. XDDD
Let's see....
Wasn't too satisfied with him. I wanted to be more.... terrified of him. He was supposed to be this powerful sorcerer, a tyrant. Sure we see how the people hate and fear him, how he is oppressive, but... *shrugs* Not enough malevolence. I can totally imagine Richard killing him easily.
Still. He's pretty, too. (SHALLOW)
Zeddicus (name's too complicated for me to even bother to remember). Wizard of the First Order, the one who took Richard away that night and kept him hidden until he was needed. Also aiding the Seeker, along with the Confessor, on his quest to... err, kill Darken Rahl.
He's the weakest of the three main actors, IMO. He does provide comic relief, though.
The series introduced a myriad of characters that the three encounter as they try to get closer and closer to Rahl. But what fascinated me most?
The MordSith.
Dominatrix-type warriors who serve Darken Rahl, lives off pain and also uses it as their tool, practically no form of magic works against them.
And they're clad in skintight red leather, just...
Phew.
Maybe I was also influenced by how the actress Jessica Marais played her role as Denna (to the hilt!) but I enjoyed her character. Sadist and masochist. LOL.
That last pic was just... coz of the upper body. LOL. (SHALLOW!)
See how shallow this was? LOL.
WOW!! That body! You put it so near on the comment form that I can droolvit while typing. ^^ Yummy...
While your weather restraining you to watch HP, mine on the other hand because of the bombs. I actually wanted to watch on the upcoming days, but now, just throw the idea away. I can't go anywhere.
Hhmm? They just did the premiere in Japan on last May. I'm really looking forward to that movie too but I know little chance to be shown here. Lots of handsome men and dark story.
That bod. There's like, a group called Shirtless Gathering, devoted to him. LOL!!!
Oh yeah, I heard.... stay safe, 'k? Better safe than sorry. Watch it later, it's not going anywhere anyway. It'll be on DVD, or hopefully, extended runs.
Despite the fact that some parts of the film was shot in my country (in the South), now I am doubting the likelihood of it actually being aired here. *sigh* It's the trans- and multi-national aspect of the film that intrigues me. And yes. Handsome men.
SHALLOW!!!!!
The book is daunting. I have the paperbacks (with the Legend of the Seeker covers, meaning Craig and Bridget) and maaaan, it's so thick and the fonts are small. LOL!! I'd take my time on this one, I think.
He's Australian~
Throw an Oz-Irish-Scottish accented hot guy into my line of sight and I'm deader than dead. Shallow like that, yeah.
....it's not released there yet? Looks like I'd have to hunt for it on DVD, IF they even hold it here. Online? Gah....
Oh wait... his accent:
Many parallelisms. Book adaptation, shot in New Zealand, made-up worlds, sorcery, quests.... there's a sword, too. Now all we need is a Gollum/Smeagol and it's LOTR. XDD
If I were to make a list of my many guilty pleasures, I might as well hide in shame.
Oh wait, I already kinda am.
I download it off projectw.org. It's a really cool forum for warez and stuff, and that's where I get my fix of series and films. You gotta join, though, but totally worth it. :)
Hope you had a great birthday!!! *hugs back*
They have their own myspace? Amazing... After watching that (thanks for the vid), I realized that I'm weak for British men and their accents (I assume he's British).
Thanks! Yeah, the movies usually quite good, in my opinion. But they cut too many parts, the books are better than the movie. You read it too?
I haven't seen HP as well.
I'm a sucker for fantasy series and your picspam got me. After I finished Merlin I'll watch this next.
I remembered reading the news about Josh Harnett's filming some scenes in Diwalwal for "I Come with the Rain". Maybe it was scheduled for 2008 but was pushed back?
Hmmmm....
I am watching HP tomorrow. Apparantly it should not have been PG?
Why is it that you make me want to watch that show? I am going to buy that book, seriously.
You're watching House S2? Me S3. I love his accent too. ^^ <33
It's the first series in a while that is released for syndication (the last one was Xena, I think) so it ought to have quite a wide following.
And you're not too far off the mark, he's Aussie.
The books are always going to be better, but the films also - when well-executed - have their own beauty. Yep, read the books, and I've always tried to separate the books and the films in my head before going in to watch them, except on rare occasions. XD
Date: 2009-07-18 12:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com
I would've expected the film to be shown here too, since part of it was shot in my country. *sigh*
Mine's mostly Aussie and Irish. Sometimes Scottish gets too.... burr-y for me to understand. I like British, but not the Cockney ones. But really, any accent would do, as long as they're also beefcakes. The guys, I mean. I'm SHALLOW XDDDD
OMG YOUR ICON
Merlin should be a quick one, it has only 13 eps. :)
IMDB dates it as 2008, and they date movies with respect to their release dates. tsk.
Precisely why I like his body is cuz it's not too big. XD The abs are there, but they're lean and really packed. :) I'm not too much into huge muscles too, they... make me go 'ewwww'. So bodybuilders turn me off.
Foundation? Ooh.... THAT foundation? Yeah. She is quite gifted. :)
From: [identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com
The shallowness make you smile? LOL.
I pretty much stayed away from any reviews of the film, so I wouldn't really know. So... what, it should've been R?
The series deviated in so many ways from the series (from what I've read so far) but they're both really good.
Yesssssssss..... I'll be done with S2 soon and I'll be launching straight into S3. His accent is pretty much the same as Craig's, since they're both Aussie.
XDDD True, though I'm a chicken at heart, so his is enough to turn me off, and bodybuilders will make me really want to just run away XDD
Yes! LOL... THAT foundation XDDD I don't know why, but apparently the American series I've saw, on Scifi - Syfy Channel, featuring fantasy world like this always have THAT foundation type of women, and Abs Man XDD LOL (reason why I don't watch American shows much, and I live in America!) XDDD
Yes, guys, well at least speaking from the ones I have met before, mostly can be easily impressed by THAT foundation ne~XDDD
I love birthdays since you're bound to post.
I really want to watch HP, but I don't have the time. *kicks RL* I heard it's pretty good and it's the 1st movie that doesn't seem rushed.
I haven't seen that show, but that body's making me drool.
UGH. I used to like SoT until things really went downhill a few books in. I actually tried re-reading Wizard's First Rule recently, but I couldn't enjoy it like I used to. It was like... I could see the beginnings of the things Goodkind does that put me off the books later on. As for the TV show... XD My brother and I watched it, and we just died with each episode. It was so twisted from the original, so coooorny... OMG Zed is such a creeper. He's like...my favorite character in the books, but he's just weird in the show. XD
On the other hand, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABS 8D
Yeah.... Believe it or not, I started reading PHANTOM (Book 11) coz it was the only one on the bookstore I first went into. And I was like WHAAAA~ I found it meandering.
But Jane told me the first 3-4 books are awesome, so I'm willing to take her word for it. Already a few chapters in on Book 1, and I see a world of difference from the series....
....which did not surprise me one bit. Come on, it's Sam Raimi. Remember what he and his crew did with Greek mythology in their Hercules and Xena syndicated series? *rolls eyes*
...they could've picked a better actor to play Zeddicus, though.
I blocked my ears from any comments. XDD As always with book film adaptations, there are mixed reviews.
I'm planning on watching it tomorrow, EVEN IF IT'S STILL RAINING HARD. I'd just make sure to drag my three cousins so I won't be the only one getting soaked. LOL!!!
It's drool-worthy, alright. They should make him go topless at least once in every ep. XD
