In my parallel universe...

30-day Arashi Challenge
day 20 - Whatever tickles your fancy

This begs the question:
"What if I never knew of Arashi?"

Rainbows would be mere bowers of color in the sky.

I would've finished - or at least kept up to date with - LOST, Supernatural, Smallville, and Gossip Girl.

My wardrobe would be mostly blacks and blues.

My most commonly used programs on my computer would be MS Word, MS Excel, and Windows Media Player for videos.

The bulk of my fandom-related expenses would be DVDs and CDs.

I'd probably own a Jonas Brothers CD.

I would take one look at a fish and the first thing that will come to mind is "FRY OR GRILL?".

One wall in our den would be devoid of an Ohno and, in its place, would probably be a family portrait. LMAO.

I'd probably be a huge Super Junior fan.

My "magazine shelf" would be filled with COSMOPOLITAN mags.

I'd still be of the mind-set that men shouldn't have longer hair than girls.

My Twitter feed won't be as fun and funny as it is everytime I open it.

My Japanese vocab would not extend beyond Oishi and Ohayou.

My wallpaper would be one of Bryce Larkin. (damnthatwassorandom)

....

I won't have this LJ. And I wouldn't have 'met' YOU.

oh gosh if Arashi didnt exist, i'd still be stuck in the world of mr. Roy G.Biv...
i wouldnt randomly say perffect body or know that no skull meant, "keep that head away from me'
and fish would gross me out instead of wondering to myself how someone can spend 26hrs at a time on a boat trying to catch them...
i doubt if i'd even have a japanese vocab...
okay this parallel universe depresses me - never have i been so happy to go back to real life! :)

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
My actual list is far longer than what I wrote in this post. LMAO.

LOL. You randomly say Perfect body, huh? XDD My own random phrase is "UWAH", for some reason. coz it works in sooo many situations. :)

[identity profile] lianne29.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
If I did not know Arashi, rainbows and sparkles would not be associated with Japan. I'll have more money saved and that I would not have much of an "internet life."

And if I did not know Arashi I would still have that idol bias.

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ditto on the "money saved" bit. I've been tempted many times to do an accounting for all my Arashi-related expenses, but gave up, because I knew it would just break my heart. XDD

[identity profile] carolinacak.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi!!

I know what you mean!!^^ xD I would probably be spending my money on The Office DVD (love this show) , would spending my weekends basically watching the re-runs from tv shows, and definitely I would not be studying japanese! My family background is from japan, and they say thank god you like arashi!! because back then, I didn't have much interest in japanese culture! I was more Brazilian. Ow and one more thing!I would still have my desire to go study in USA, but right now all I wanna go is to Japan!!^^

Loved your post!!^^ It really makes you wonder ne?~~
But thank god we got to bring Arashi in our lives!!!^^

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. Arashi weighing heavily on career and education choices. Amazing~
My splurging would probably be on Smallville, but... as things turned out, I fell off the SV fandom years ago.

I am just glad my curiosity was at its peak and I looked them up further. :)

[identity profile] carolinacak.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I know!!!! LOL and our expenses are much higher! ^^
I mentioned you in my post if you don't mind!? well if you do don't worry that I will remove right away!! just say it!!! Thankss!!

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't mind. You didn't say I'm a horrible person anyway, so it's cool~ LOL. XDD

[identity profile] aishitemassu.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
If I hadn't known Arashi... I would be a very geeky, nerd type of girl
I would never learn Japanese.
I would never learn how to appreciate boys, I would forever be a Harry Potter fanatic and a fan of Daniel Radcliffe. My life would never be this exciting...

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. I think you just implied that being a fan of Daniel Radcliffe is not so exciting. :)

[identity profile] sweetgirl2710.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah!!!1 Those are the things that the fandom has taught us ne?

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Among other things~ My original list is a lot longer. XDDD

[identity profile] mjlights.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
LOLolololoololllllllllloooool...

why do I find myself nodding to most of those you mentioned? except for the jonas brother part and super junior part *grimaces*. I think I passed the age for the former and never would have heard of them if not for this fandom on the latter.

I am amazed how knowing these boys and joining this fandom has made me internalize the changes it made in my life... LOL....knowing their existence had me cackling despite of my hectic scheds...

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I started watching Taiwanese dramas, and the Korean wave is still pretty much engulfing my country, so I think I might've been pulled by the SuJu fandom. But, as things stand, I have a stronger inclination for rainbows (and my capacity, or lack thereof, of remembering much beyond FIVE members' names. XDDD)

Odd, but Arashi is kinda the bright spot in a bleak world marred by RL and hectic scheds, at least for me...

[identity profile] mjlights.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
'Odd, but Arashi is kinda the bright spot in a bleak world marred by RL and hectic scheds, at least for me...'

exactly my dear, that's what I was saying...

[identity profile] sad-eyes0211.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
can I add one more?

if you never knew Arashi?
"you'd probably have finished your Master degree"

XDDD~

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
LMAOOOOO!!!

NO FAIRRRRR~!!!!
Actually, I'd probably be in Law School, looking for an opportunity to argue with someone every chance I get. Rainbows calmed me. *sigh*

[identity profile] becky-49.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
If I never knew of Arashi, I wouldn't have my LJ either and wouldn't have met awesome people like you.

I would be much richer.

I wouldn't appreciate girly guys, bad perms, bad singing, etc...

And I wouldn't be into anything Japanese.

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
LOL at the "richer" part.

Come to think of it, I'd probably have more money saved myself.

[identity profile] keimusikera.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
.omg. if i never knew arashi, i would be stuck to the tv and not the pc. and my hard drive would be full of, well, it wouldn't be full. haha! i probably wouldn't open my lj either (since i only opened one because my professor in english wanted us to).

.this question drove me crazy. if i didn't know arashi i wonder what i would have done with my time. ^.^

.and i wouldn't be able to see arashi love-love moments. O.o *scared*

.so glad i know arashi.

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ohgawdyes. I'd also probably be a couch potato!! Now I only end up listening to the telly and watch only the news!! XDDD

[identity profile] keimusikera.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
.yokatta ne~ that we know arashi~ ^.^
.i'd end up watching my sister's fave cartoons of i didn't know 'em. haha. so lame.

LMAO

[identity profile] dilimanista.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Top-of-mind answer would be my world would be less colorful as it is right now. Ü

[identity profile] hybrid-hallow.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
T_T Love the topic you chose...
Really, they brought so many wonderful things that I wouldn't trade it for anything. Can't say I really relate to your list (my past obsessions intertwine a bit with my Arashi interests >.>), but the last sentence... I met so much kindness, love, and flail, it's almost sick. ♥ *should make one too*

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. Yeah, it's almost sick. Sometimes, at random moments, I sit back and think, "if not for this group, I would not be having this flail-sesh I am having right now." Phew.

DOEEEETTTT~!!!

[identity profile] nicko.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"I won't have this LJ. And I wouldn't have 'met' YOU."

Then God bless Arashi.

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Amen to that. New experiences and adventures. That's probably what I consider Arashi's greatest gift to me. :)

[identity profile] ogurishunnoaein.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
If I never knew of Arashi then janken will just be a game kids play.

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
hahah! True, it still cracks me up to see 5 grown men playing it, or using it to make decisions. :)

[identity profile] gnr0006.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
If Arashi didn't exist I would be really bored and my computer would have a LOT more room on its hard drive. My memory is mainly taken up by Arashi related downloads. I also wouldn't be interested in getting my bachelors degree to qualify for the JET program or learning Japanese. If Arashi didn't exist I would not be walking the path I am now. I truly believe that their existence has helped shaped me into the person I am today and I thank them and all the communities dedicated to sharing Arashi. Arashi is love. ( ^ _ ^ )

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
oooh, Arashi and career choices. :) So fitting how they were chosen to be the face of Japan. :) Now all we need is for Sho to be the PM. LOL.

[identity profile] arashilovezs.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ahhahaha I had to comment on this!
Never considered it until I read this and now, its STUCK in my head!
I mean, if Arnold can... :P

if i never knew arashi

- i wouldnt hv install or even know what keyhole is
- my tax return wouldnt be as much as i wont be able to claim for magazine purchases..
- i would probably be able to sleep soundly and not in anxiousness whenever my broadband connection fails..
- i can start work at 9am sharp instead of spending 1hour checking on lj updates and new clips
- i might not care so much about my diet and not care about having tuck in boots jean look..
- i probably DO keep up with the kardashians..and actually know which brands of clothing that suri cruise is wearing and people.com will be my actual LJ
- and boardgames will look like some lame old game to me.. and hey
ALL OF YOUR POST ABOVE!!!
arashi SAIKO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
I also remember having to wrestle with something just to get a crappy quality stream via Keyhole, then gave up.

LMAO at Suri's wardrobe. XDDD

[identity profile] mlie2968.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
If I never knew Arashi, I won't know Vampyr-san
...and laughed myself to death because of it XD

I'll probably be richer too hahaha and.. might still be buried in dark rainbow-less abyss of endless negative thoughts.

WE ALL NEED RAINBOW SPARKLES IN LIFE \0/
So glad we do!! :D

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO!!! Ohmaaaan, you just had to carry that name over huh~ XDDDD

[identity profile] bulkyass.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
I was nodding all throughout your entry. XD amazing what Arashi can do, really.

I often wonder about this. I'm pretty sure I would have been caught up in the Kpop world had I not known Arashi. Would I have gone to that SuJu concert here? Would I have been glued to the TV rewatching Gossip Girl, Big Bang Theory, Scrubs, and Disney Channel? Harry Potter would have been my main fandom still and God knows there's almost nothing new except for the theme park.

The most I would have known about Japan would be sushi and sashimi. My Jpop knowledge would probably be limited to Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki and Samurai X theme songs.

I WOULD HAVE WATCHED BOYS OVER FLOWERS KOREAN VERSION.

Honestly, I started being more happy and more at ease when I found out about the five boys. It may sound weird to others, but they really influence life in some way, in different ways in different people. It's a whole other world, aside from your family and friends. But it's the same thing, when you talk about something that makes you happy. And who says you can't find friends in the internet? HELLO. <3

I <3 this entry ate. (and also, UWAH and EHHH?! have been my expression since I knew of its existence too. XDDD)

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
... I haven't watched a single episode of Korea's BoF. Only the first half of Ep1. I see bits and pieces when I get home and my cousins are watching it but i never even sat for longer than 3 minutes to check it out...

Right, right, right? I don't remember being this... involved with any fandom/group before. EVER. And I am just glad I 'discovered' them. :)

[identity profile] angellybeanzz.livejournal.com 2010-06-12 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Arashi = awesome friends. That's why I'll always be grateful to those five dorks for pulling me into the crazy world of rainbows and sparkles. :D

[identity profile] nana-komatsu7.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
this post is awesome. Arashi saikou and thank you because I love to have jeffer as a friend <3

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Awwwwww, so sweeeeettttttt~ Thank youuuuu~ I'm glad to have met you and have you as a friend too!! *squishes*

[identity profile] rizwinc10.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Awww..such a sweet post. :)
Arashi brings people together.

Althou..if I never knew Arashi...
I would already be married/or have a bf by now. ^ ^;; LOL.

[identity profile] dvampyrlestat.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO!!! So tell me, your last statement... is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

[identity profile] muharami79.livejournal.com 2010-06-13 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This question does make you wonder, doesn't it?? All the what-ifs..

For me, if I didn't know Arashi...
- I wouldn't have met many great people I know in the fandom...*wink*
- I wouldn't have pick up writing again.. I stopped when I started working..but when started reading Arashi fanfics, it makes me want to start writing again...allthough I'm getting rusty..but hey..at least I tried, right?
- my credit card will be limited to err...no usage at all..haha..
- my interest would probably be in Bollywood and Korean movies..I still watch them sometimes..but nowadays it's hard to find good Bollywood movies..and Korean dramas are too long for short-attention span..haha..more than 10 ep is too long for me..and that's why i don't watch Boys Over Flowers..
- I guess my life would be quite dull...because one of my dreams is to go to an Arashi concert, I have a passport made...and now I've travelled to Singapore and South Korea..next stop...Tokyo..huhu..*gotta start saving from now*
-I can accept that fail can also be hilarious and cute..lol..
- and I'm more open-minded now....hey..that's what you'll become after 3 years of sparkling rainbow theraphy,ne..lol..

[identity profile] suzumesuou.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
wow It's hard to picture one's life without Arashi... personally I really cannot imagine it, even though I knew about them quite recently (about 8 months ago) my life was drastically changed, and I don't exaggerate when I say it that way xD. I didn't know I had such a fangirling side in me, but I like how cheerful my dayle life is now that I have Arashi to bright up every moment.
;-)
