Bloody Cars, Tutus, Hours and...

(I'm so bloody post-happy this November. Theories as to why? And this is going to be bloody long. And I'm gonna use the same bloody word before this entry ends. You've been bloody warned)
FIRST. Saw the preview for 24 Season 7. HOLY~~!!!! I am sooooo damn glad it's coming back, although Season 6 is my least favorite of the lot. I get to watch another of the longest days in Jack's life. Seriously. I need a Machiavellian fix from someone other than myself. And Jack Bauer does it better. And a female president, huh. (Well, if you think about it, Obama isn't the first black American President; it's David Palmer. And this new one on 24 isn't the first female President, it's Caroline Reynolds on Prisonbreak, and she's made of 'dame'. Ohgod, I am getting my fandoms mixed up. What next, Jack Bauer rescuing a Japanese couple on a Nevada roadside and they happen to be after a tiara, and Jack would help them retrieve that tiara, using backdoors and even special favors from CTU?
I'm sick. But I'm excited! Yay for tick-tocks!!! (I mean, I read this: "Once more, 24 kicks off the new season with a four-episode explosion over two consecutive nights...') I'm one happy couch potato. It starts Nov 23 in the US, I'll download it on the 26th. It's my bday; not Ohno's.
NEXT: I received this on the email yesterday, and I conclude: I WAS BORN IN THE BLOODY WRONG COUNTRY.

ME: Wrong country.

Drama talk.
So I picked up a couple of dramas to watch. Well, more than a couple, but yeah. (Seriously need to get started on Kiva, but that's one series where I opt to download more than a substantial amount and allot an entire weekend for watching. YES.)
*****
TOMMMMAAAAAAA~!
*breathes*
That's hardly a proper way to start talking about a drama special but who would ever think "proper" and "Hana Kimi" should be used in the same sentence?? (oh. I just did.)
The story's nothing spectacular. I was actually hoping the SP would pick up where the series ended and go from there. But no, it DID pick up from where it left off (kinda) and just...backtracked. I won't make a synopsis to avoid major spoilers, but....
Tell me, as I have not read the manga, is the character of Julia supposed to be a gaijin? An American?? Coz she did have some kind of an accent. Deliberate?
Best moments, AS USUAL, involved the three dorms. Oscar's shower scene. Lovely. Detective Nakatsu (over)analyzing things. Nakatsu hugging Kayashima's front (that was random, ahem) as he was bawling in fear. A lovestruck Nanba-senpai. Nakao raping Nanba (alright, it was a kiss). Dorm 3 in tutus. (Keisuke and Oscar as ballerinas!!!! rotflmao)
Surprisingly, Maki's Ashiya was a bit flat here. Almost like...take her off and I would not have noticed.
*****
Surprise. No JE and I watched it. I'm coming back to my senses. Yay me!
Seigi no Mikata (ally of justice) tells the story from the POV of Yoko, an ordinary high school student who has an extraordinary older sister, Makiko, who is beauty, brains and pure evil. Or so she says. Makiko gets her way by bullying her sister, and she's basically an unsavory person, but by some stroke of luck, her meanness always manages to bring happiness to others. Much, of course, to Yoko's chagrin.
So what do I think about it? Shida Mirai is verrrry good here. I've seen her in 14 Sai no Haha, where I thought she was a very promising actress, to be able to bring to life the character of a young girl who has to grow up too soon because of a child in her. This time she flexes her comedic muscles. And oh, she is cute. Coz she's little. *runs off*
I've only seen Yamada Yuu through my brushes with Arashi. On AnS where she did that yoga class with them, and on VSA where she conquered the wall climb and put our boys to shame. She's pretty. When she smiles. But she's pretty good in this as well.
Mukai Osamu was looking pretty hot here, as Makiko's 'target'. Of course they had to pick someone tall to match up to Yamada, right? Hehe. I just thought, though, at the beginning, his character was too....stupid?? And here he was supposed to be a University grad, also attended Harvard, and practically the most 'promising' young blood to rise up the ranks of the government. But no, he's too blind to see through Makiko's pretense. Gullible, I tell ya.
Watching this, I was kinda glad I am an only child. Mwahaha. But, it does have a heart. One can clearly see how helpless the smart older sister is without her kid sister. She's just...twisted?
....Now on to the unfinished ones.
*****
Hehehe. *insert stupid laughter here*
Jiro's adorable.
Ok. So KO-ONE comes first, right? I DIDN'T KNOW. So I watched, like, the first three episodes with my cousin. Then started working on something on my comp while she continued on to Episode 7, so I just had half my attention to it the whole time, thinking I'd go back later.
Next day, I thought I'd check out X-Family. Ba~d idea. It's like some sort of a sequel, right? Thirty minutes into it, and I stopped.
I should set my priorities straight.
However, it's not the type of drama that'll hold my attention for so long, though, so I dunno when I'll be able to pick it up again.
(oh boy, this wasn't really a review, was it.)

So, I did say Rainie was everywhere in Taipei, right? Along with Alan Luo.
SUBlimes had until Ep7 of this TWdrama subbed so I watched. And I am finding the NGs more hilarious than the actual drama. Really, Wei Bo, JUST HOW OFTEN ARE YOU GOING TO MESS UP???
So in a nutshell, it's about the spoilt Xiao Hua (Rainie) who has absolutely ZERO sense of style finally meeting her childhood classmate Jia Si Le who came back from Japan a changed man. He used to be this chubby bullied boy, but now he is like...prince charming. (Pretty cute, too, if I may say so, but as far as Prince Charming characters in dramas go, I FIND DULL) He's wealthy, he's handsome, he's puurrrfect, and he's expected by his family to marry the equally purrrfect Jiang Mi (but she's not really perfect. She just acts like that, but is actually venomous.)
Xiao Hua then decides she needs a makeover to be suitable for Jia Si Le.
Enter Tang Men, Jia Si Le's best friend, famous stylist for the rich and famous and with a POISON TONGUE. I love the insults he makes on this one. :) My personal favorite so far would still be the first one, as he looked at Xiao Hua and wonders why he should accept fashion tips from a Christmas tree. XDDD
So by some many forms of blackmail she gets him to agree to do a makeover on her. Then Jiang Mi pushes him to make Xiao Hua fall for him so she can have Jia Si Le to herself...TO HILARIOUS RESULTS.
And I won't say more. Because...well, that's where I stopped. I hope a new subbed ep will be out soon.
Acting from the cast is so-so. Rainie delivers, though. Too well. Too well, that I am finding her irritating at times, as Tang Men does. haha! Is it a requisite for genki girls to have such a high-pitched voice?? My ears are....ugh. But I like her. And I love watching the NGs. XDDD especially of their kiss scenes, which they always manage to botch.
....and an ongoing one.....

THANK YOU FOR HARDSUBS!!!! TimelesSubs finally released Ep1 of this drama, Bloody Monday.
And for the record, this is shaping up to be my FAVORITE DRAMA THIS SEASON. TOTALLY.
It's A-MA-ZING. Gripping from beginning till end. I never read up on it before. I only knew Miura will play some sort of an agent, and there'll be terrorists.
My cup of tea.
Miura is Takagi Fujimaru, a genius hacker (code name: Falcon), whose father happens to work for a top-secret counter terrorist unit. From an event that occurred in Russia a couple of years back, signs show that Japan will be the next hit, and he was called on to help. But not after much persuasion.
I love the pacing of the first ep. I hope they keep this up, because I don't recall a drama catching my entire attention for the entire HOUR AND A HALF!!!!
Watching it, though, I could not help but notice how some parts were a throwback to 24. Even the floor plan of the Agency was the same as that of CTU. Takagi Sr. watches from his office as similarly as Tony and other CTU directors had done so in the past. They even have a personal Chloe to do major hacking for them. lolz.
And LOOK! There seems to be a leak within the unit!!! How many times have there been leaks in CTU???!!
Anyway. The build-up of suspense is good. The unexpected twists and turns, I am LOVING IT.
Kichise Michiko is proving to be a promising actress, one who'd be perfect for femme fatale roles. Saw her fist in Liar Game, as one of the Game 'facilitators', then of course in Maou as Serizawa Mari. Way to go with seduction of young boys! I find her pretty.
Let me talk about Miura Haruma. Seen him in 14 Sai no Haha, that cameo on UNFAIR, then Koizora, a bit on Gokusen, Galileo....I TELL YA...HE WAS TOTALLY WASTED ON GOKUSEN.
And I like how his character here does not play up the kakkoii/kawaii card. He's just a normal high school kid, your Anyman (but happens to have superior hacking skills), and neither does he act cute, either. Also, I love the father-son angle here, makes it more human.
And I must be watching far too much of 24 (who are we kidding. I've watched the whole thing) and reading too many Dan Brown books, because I have a pretty strong hunch as to who the leak is. And I also think BLUEBIRD is Sato Takeru's character. Just saying.
I can't wait to see how the Falcon flies. XD
Hmm...
I'm downloading SARS Koizora the series ep5....I miss SARS 'products'. YAY.
And...I swear. I will start EAST OF EDEN. SOON. LIKE, THIS SATURDAY.
Randomly......just recently I watched House Bunny. (Don't ask) My favorite line???
"'Manhole'. I LOVE THAT WORD."

Date: 2008-11-07 03:55 pm (UTC)Subbed episodes? Well...I'm in the subbing team this time. Had some problems with the first episode. The rest should be faster, I think. But that really depends on our QC'er, who is super duper picky. *hehe* (hope he doesn't read this...)
I've seen Miura's icons around recently on people's blogs...
