Non-JE.

Not a day goes by that it doesn't rain over here.

...that sounded mighty petty, considering the plight of those people Ike just swept over. *hangs head in shame*

For those who care to know, I wasn't late last Saturday. So I met up with my companion for the afternoon, and spent an hour watching guys and gals in white hats (they're 'apprentice chefs', but I just adored their chef hats *rolls eyes*) outdo one another in FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CARVING. It was the Hotel & Restaurant Tourism Weekend: Culinary Odyssey weekend in my city and, as the name implies, there had to be food, food and more food. And Saturday was the last day, so we thought to catch at least ONE event (coz most of the others started late Thursday through Friday when we actually had lives and had to be behind desks to earn a living and some bucks to hand to Johnny Kitagawa.)

It was an interesting hour, watching them make stuff with watermelons, pumpkins and papaya. Some were really creative, and some just made me go, "How on earth are people supposed to eat that?" while noting how candles and stuff are put inside those things. Other than that, I applaud them. But as much as I admire them, I still prefer those fruits performing their function as nature dictates: for ingestion more than the aesthetics.

When it was over, we went for some pasta at Zola, then let the pouring rain ease up a bit before heading to the rooftop of this mall where a concert will be held. Because of the rain, we thought it won't go through, but we still gave it a shot and...top floor, we heard riffs and strings and went, "OH YEAH!"

So the front act was this local homegrown band that mainly plays country music (country is HUUGE in my city). I saw them first when they were high school seniors. Now they're college sophomores. And they've improved. They even write their own songs, which is WOW. Their set had, like, seven songs? And during that time, it was starting to drizzle. This was on a rooftop, right, and there was this single tent set up to cover our heads.

People began trooping, in umbrellas and stuff. My companion and I had caps on (because umbrellas really aren't our thing). By the time the main artist came on the stage, the drizzle became some-kinda-rain.

She is KITCHIE NADAL. You know why I really really REALLY like her? Coz she's a musician. A poet. Very smart (double majors in a prestigious university). Writes her songs and own melodies, plays the guitar, really simple and without a hint of self-consciousness in her unlike some celebs masquerading to be musicians when they're merely singers. (I'm harsh, I know.)

And she seems to refuse to be a cash cow for anyone. She does small-town gigs (this rooftop concert was free admission) and some gigs for churches (she also writes and sings gospel songs). On this one, it was the Church that called on her to perform, and it seems this is the nth time already. She also writes songs for environmental causes. Yes, even patriotic.

AND I LOVE HER VOICE.

She's the Rock Princess of the Philippines.

....I am so pimping her, aren't I.

BACK TO THE CONCERT.

It was a looooot of fun. Her set had about 11 songs, and it didn't matter that in the middle the rain just POURED, yes, even through the tent cover. She gave out shirts near the end, to the 'most wet' people around. That's when my companion and I made a break for it, not wanting to get into the crush of people leaving.

...I swear, when she comes back on December (I'm pretty sure she'll be back since she loves my city.) I'll properly go to a proper concert.

And I miss these things. I totally should get back into following the live band scene. That's where real talent lies. Yes, even when I am soaked to the skin. XDD

To complete the pimpage....Let's ask for YT's help, shall we?
SAME GROUND - MY FAVORITE KITCHIE SONG. EVER. Check it out.

RUN - I wished she sang this one. *sigh* Amazing vocals on this one.
FIRE - The very first song I heard from her that made me a fan. She sings it live HERE.
BULONG - Probably my favorite Kitchie song sung in Filipino. It's just uplifting....Bulong means "Whisper" in Filipino. I'd translate, but dang, I suck at my own mother tongue.
WAG NA WAG MONG SASABIHIN - this is where she broke through mainstream. It was used as the theme of the Kdrama "Lovers in Paris" when it was aired here. It means "Don't ever, ever say."

Ok. I'll stop now. Mediafire's giving me headaches with uploads. And I am having a headache dealing with the fact that I don't pay much attention to my mobile phone and tonight that I NEED to SMS my friend, I dig through my bag and realize I forgot my keita in my drawer at the office. And my folks deleted this friend's particular phone number on their phones and I don't really write down phone numbers anywhere and whyohwhy do I remember only TWO numbers, mine and my mom's?

Karma. My phone is punishing me for neglecting it.

Oh. I did say non-JE, right? But I'm just gonna say this.

I'M GLAD TO HAVE BEEN WITH ARASHI ON THEIR NINTH YEAR, AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GOING ON THEIR TENTH WITH THEM.

It's addicting!

You have a list of the song you just listen! You have a top Artist list, top Tracks list (And you can see which song you were listening the most 6 months ago, or a year ago).

And you can watch what your friends were listening too or are listening right now! And you can check your music compatibility with them.

It also gives you suggestions of things you would like to listen, cos it keeps track of your "taste" in music!

Also, in LiveJournal when you're making a post it automatically scrolls what you are listing in your iTunes! It's the best.

Here's Arashi's page in Last.fm http://www.last.fm/music/

And this is my page http://www.last.fm/user/Silgari

Plus I think they have EVERY artist there is in the world! I've found info on all the Japanese artist I have on my iTunes! I'm not kidding! EVERY ARTIST! It's a really cool site! I'm addicted to it!

It's not like I get to listen to music when I'm in front of the comp (cuz either I am writing, subbing, or watching videos...lolz!) but at work....YAY!!!!
Yes'm! will create an account now!

Career in sales... don't know. Maybe something that has to do with music! I'm ALWAYS listening to music when I'm in front of the computer (Except when watching vids). I even listen to music when writing my thesis (instrumental music).

YAY! Make an account and then add ME! Hehehehehe! ^____^
