I took my VOW today....

First things first.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROSA.....!!!!!
Second.
Nino's MARATHON SP SUBBED is finally OUT! A lot of snags on this one, like you can't believe.
We took the longest to spot-translate, the longest to time, the search for the best raw video file, and Haru practically came on the verge of losing a good arm editing, and nearly lost her head encoding and reencoding. SEE HOW WE LOVE YOU?!?!

I don't think I'm cut out for marriage. I'm too free-spirited to want any commitment that permanent.
Now that I got that out of my system....
For three days (starting today), I was asked to attend this company-sponsored VALUES ORIENTATION WORKSHOP. Or VOW.
So what is it about? That is not to say that I don't have values, that's why I was going to attend. It's more...'enhancement' and 'reinforcement', and 'further discovery' of what I already have. So I went.
I was afraid of one thing: what if it turns all preachy and sanctimonious and I cannot stop myself from blurting sarcastic remarks and - worse - bursting out laughing?
Today was actually interesting. Out of 42 people there, there were only 7 females (and they say females outnumber males 2 to 1 *rolls eyes*). They grouped us through random count and LO AND BEHOLD! I am the only female in our group. And most of them are middle-aged to aged. Noisy but fun older guys. And they picked BINGO as our group name.
And our group yell? "JHING-OH!"
......
They're old. Let them have their fun while they still can.
Today they discussed the SELF, and they asked the question. "WHO AM I?"
I hated that question more than anything. Because I think I am barely on the road to self-discovery, so it is a tad premature to be asking that. There were lengthy discussions, and sharing of thoughts and feelings. "What made you the happiest?" "What's the most tragic thing that ever happened to you?" "What are the triggers of your reflections, and how did you react?"
I kept quiet unless asked. My memories are my own. Yes, I'm that selfish.
It was quite an OK day. The 2nd day would be focused on the SELF AND MY COUNTRY. Uh-oh. I am in danger of going apolitical again, and I can get quite argumentative in that area. Argumentative to the point of 'treasonous'. The third and final day would center on the SELF AND SERVICE.
I can't say I'm too thrilled. But sure. If I learn a tiny-teeny thing, well and good. And it'll look nice on my resume, so....
And an update from that thing I spoke about in my last post:
TRUE ENOUGH. SHE WAS SELLING INSURANCE.
Omigod. She kept droning on and on about premiums, and entitlements, how much you're gonna get at age 60, at age 65....
I'm like, "I don't see myself going beyond 40, so I don't think I'm the best person for you to be selling that."
We're meeting again this weekend, though, as she'll be presenting INVESTMENT and ENDOWMENT proposals. Now THAT I am interested in.
There's this running joke. When you get a life insurance, you won't die young or any time soon. That's because the entire insurance company will be praying for your safety ALL THE TIME.

Date: 2008-06-24 11:49 am (UTC)middle aged-aged men talk LOUDLY and would always burst out laughing like hyenas- not in a bad way but they are like that most of the time- kinda interesting and funny too to be around them! lol.
who am I and why am i here questions are THE WORST, I tell you.

Date: 2008-06-24 02:39 pm (UTC)oh gawd, THESE aged men WON'T SHUT UP. It's a good thing they're funny, but two more days of this? I'm probably gonna go nuts. Some things do get old.
Quintessential questions are annoying in that they're supposed to be inspiring or causes of reflection, but really they mess you up.

Date: 2008-06-24 03:29 pm (UTC)oh, more days with LOUD old men can be so tiring and you can relate to them like maybe 21.039283% percent of the time.
yes, reflective questions either make you reflect- like in the real sense of it, or make you invent a life apart from yours cuz you're tired of the thinking and just need to get it over with.

Date: 2008-06-24 12:19 pm (UTC)But one question... will you guys be having MF or DivShare links for Marathon?
And interesting questions, to be honest... I can't answer those immediately XP And the insurance person, well... thats a little "woah" some sellers can be irritating and intimidating sometimes XDDD

Date: 2008-06-24 02:42 pm (UTC)in our LJ? We don't use DivShare. As for MF, they are posted only on Aibakaland. If you're a member, pretty soon there'll be MF mirrors, hopefully when the uploaders have the time to upload them. :)
Interesting, yes, but they mess you up. It hurts to come up even with the simplest answer. XDDD
The seller was actually quite nice, not persistent or anything, but she's the mother of my classmate, and sometimes I dunno how to put off people in a nice way....I guess I'll have to see where it leads...but i'm definitely not buying insurance from her. I'm happy with the one the company provided for me....

That's pretty much how I felt
The few times it happens, I'm glad I am right. :D
Just look at it like you running a marathon yourself, only sitting down with your fingers about to fall off.
Exactly. This bunch is particularly nuts, and they NEVER SHUT UP. (And I thought my girl friends are already talkative.)

Date: 2008-06-24 02:48 pm (UTC)Yes. And they have an accompanying dance to that well. I think you know the step. The chicken dance. "JHING-OH! JHING-OH! Go, go, GO!"
I feel like I have a personal squad cheering for me. *snorts*

Date: 2008-06-24 02:51 pm (UTC)The company is actually Nippon Life. My fascination for Japan doesn't go that deep. lolz. I WISH I COULD RUN!!!! BUt maybe I'll just hop away, and leave my friend to deal with her for us both. (It annoys the heck out of me when it is someone I know/am acquainted with who is selling.)
