So my throat kinda itches that every now and again I'd try to cough, or clear my throat, and this older guy colleague of mine - way across the room - imitates me. Every single time. I'm torn between irritation and amusement. I wanna pull at his hair 'cept for the fact that there isn't much of it left, and that's a battle I know I'm gonna lose. And painfully, too.

Last night was a lull. I got home and felt lazy. SHOCK. I settled down beside my nephew who had a marathon of Stomp the Yard, Jump In and Dirty Dancing. AND THEN Ponyo on a Cliff. It's a school night, but I'm a supportive one, so. And as for Dirty Dancing, he was already nodding off by the time the groin- and loin-fest begun. And...he was completely gone when Ponyo. See how supportive I am?

I heard Nobuta wo Produce will be aired in my country. Dubbed in Tagalog, of course.

Heaven help us.

It's nothing new. Well, the ones that I knew already aired were Gokusen 1 and 2, Good Luck!, God Give Me More Time, Hana Kimi, HYD...what else....Uhm, those.

Before that, this was a country struck by the Korean wave (even up till now) and the Meteor Garden craze (which I was a part of).

A tidbit.

Television in the Philippines is largely dominated by two networks: ABS-CBN and GMA-7. And the network war is really ugly. I mean REALLY UGLY. We're talking about artists being exclusive to one network, piracy of talents (not just in showbusiness, also in News & Public Affairs), barbs and insults traded over any media, staunch fans fighting each other in any medium...

It's UGLY. All for the sake of ratings.

Which sucks. I mean, be like me, have the best of both worlds. They're missing out.

Anyway. Nobuta Wo Produce.

Granted, they were responsible for bringing the Meteor Garden mania to fever pitch in my country (but I watched it subbed). They also managed to bring in the F4 for concerts and appearances over here, even the Xu sisters. I won't be surprised if the YamaPi pimpage starts.

Then there's this thing about fans writing to ABS-CBN to air Arashi shows, maybe even get ABS to try to bring Arashi for a concert.

It's enough that Johnny Kitagawa has turned Arashi into one of his biggest cash cows, but ABS-CBN, too? I have no bad beef with the network. It's just...

I recall how Meteor Garden was milked for all its worth that even the 'entrepreneurial Filipinos' (sarcasm drips here) come up with rip-offs and bootlegs and whatnot.

I'm a hardsubs addict, so I patiently await the hardsubs for Mei-chan and Voice before watching them. Perhaps, Love Shuffle, too? Then again, of course Moriah had to get on my case and insisted I watch Akai Ito with softsubs. She caught me at one of my weakest.

I recalled Yoiko no Mikata.

Except Sho's Taiyou character was all sunny and positive, while Ohno's Kenta was all about gloom and doom.

Ohno's soooo good. I can't believe a few months ago he was this simmering-on-the-inside thirsty-for-revenge cold-and-calculating lawyer.

My favorite chemistry would be........Kenta and his dad. Haha! So cute the way they go at each other's throats. And Ohno exercising. Sooooo refereshing seeing him talk a lot. And move a lot...which we only see onstage.

And isn't it something amazing that Ohno and the guy who plays his dad have the same surname?

Others are speculating a Kenta-Manabe (the producer) pairing. I'm not really sold on the idea. I am kinda going for Kenta-Akane...but let's see how the story develops.

The opening theme....it's a good song. Not spectacular, coz now TRUTH has become my barometer, but OMG OHNO'S VOICE.

'Nuff said.

The preview for the next ep has him sporting tight brown suit...which emphasizes just how thin he is. But cute nonetheless.

I can't wait for next ep.

I was wishing something, anything, would happen in this drama.

And it did. Boy, how it did.

Mizobata Junpei is growing on me. Although I must say it was brought about largely from seeing him on Nakai's Star Drama Festival (where my favorite part would be Toma impersonating Nakai-doing-karaoke. That totally RULED. But I digress.)

Back to the drama. We get some holes in the first three eps explained, mostly about timelines fixed, or elaborated upon. I already foresee something tragic happening at the end, in the tradition of Koizora.

But. I have a strong heart.

The last scene shook me, though. I mean....dude.

SPOILER.

She just jumped OFF the building. Just...jumped off.

Which doesn't make sense to me at all. From the start, I was thinking she is the strongest character of the lot. Here you have a character who is basically shy and an introvert, but gets her kicks from dressing up...like an ageha? And sure she's bullied, and I mean REALLY bullied about it, but that does not deter her. She persists.

Then she sees her object of affection being all chummy with the friend she values and she just JUMPS OFF? I was disappointed with her.

Granted, she felt betrayed because Mei was the first friend she ever had, and fully trusted, but...still....

Gah. Why am I overanalyzing this. Different strokes for different folks, RIGHT?!

Anyway, it looks like she won't die, judging from the previews. Although how she could still survive after that (it looked like a sheer drop to me) is beyond me. I guess this is where suspension of disbelief comes in.

Damn. I was meaning to write about East of Eden, complete with caps, then I realized I was writing up an entire SUMMARY OF IT! WITH CAPS!!! And...and....I'm finished writing it up til Episode 5 and I thought to myself, 'this is stupid, why on earth am I doing this?'

I was really amazed of how fast STORMY team subbed UtaOni. Ohno's team is in full force, isn't it? xD.

AH! Throwing my government name out there once again! LOL! HEY! It was worth it right? Softsubs serve a purpose for those of us who are just a bit(okay A LOT) impatient! :P

Uta no Onii-san is too adorable for words and it's great to see Oh-chan moving around and seeing and being energetic even more so than he was in Maou. I'm not really going for any pairing in this one mostly b/c I don't really care for Akane and the producer woman isn't really an option from how i see it. I dun care what the band's reasons for ditching him were, they still did him WRONG and Akane was a min perpetrator of that. Why am I getting so fired up about this situation?? >.>

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to say that Mei-chan is my favorite for this season so far. I've even watched the second episode raw and was completely entertained! I hope the hardsubs come out for you soon. Hiro in a suit being a butler is a can't miss event. *dies thinking about it* I'm waiting for the hardsubs of Voice and Love Shuffle as well. Shota is too smexhy in that one too.

is it wrong for me to be laughing at everything that ohno did in the drama? there were scenes that i kept on repeating.. *hint* one puff *hint*..he's the most awesome of all awesomenest of all freaking time!!! and the way he was trying to cover up in front of the tv.. was total sweetness!!

and i watched akai ito ep4 as well last night.. took me a while to regain my consciousness... why?? why did she do it?? that was shocking indeed.

oh.. i couldnt wait for hardsubs sometimes.. whichever comes out first, i'll grabbed.. so i watched voice already.. just look forward to toma ne.. another sweetheart..

It may sound very selfish of me to say, but I don't want Arashi related shows or dramas to be aired here. Especially something from Nino. I don't know why. I just don't want it.

There's actually speculation of a Manabe-Kenta pairing? I don't see it. I want something more from Akane and Kenta too. Ohno is so adorable when he's running and screaming. And I love his facial expressions. XD I'm wondering who the mysterious little girl is though.

And ah... TV Station wars... We used to have that in Singapore too xD Just that, it wasn't much of a war as the bigger company was richer & more powerful & they kinda stifle the smaller company... In the end they merge, or rather, the smaller company got bought over, so we only have 1 TV station now XDDD Which I hardly watch :p

And IF by some reason Arashi deigns to visit our country for a concert, I do hope none of those giant stations get the right to do it. Let another entity (who will not make the concert all about them and their talents) handle it.

I watched Voice already and I'll be watching UtaOni and Mei-chan later this week. I'm still finishing a book while working on some projects and well, I don't want to be distracted. :) So YAY that there's already a subbed UtaOni! Something good is waiting for me! :)

ABS-CBN is going to air Nobuta wo Produce? I prefer watching dramas in the native language, I understand the show better. I would probably check it out just to hear the dubber's voice (though it is said that ABS-CBN has a better pool of dubbers than GMA).

The idea of ABS-CBN bringing Arashi to our country scares me.

and did I saw Naruse's smirk at the end of the drama? yes, Ohno's good! I didn't thought I'd enjoy the drama, or the first episode just because I saw the preview/summary. But the feel of the drama, it's different. nasanay ata ako sa TBS. UnO's got more cinematic feel. The song-and-dance at the beginning tricked me. I thought Ohno's enjoying the whole thing, how is it that the story says he doesn't like his work, but I guess that it's because the story's told in past and present tense.

Thank you, you guys are so fast! As much as I want to watch Utaoni, sadly I'll have to put it on hold. My computer's dying and I don't think it'll survive anymore major downloads. I won't be able to get a new one for a couple of weeks since my aunt is visiting from the U.S. to spend Chinese New Year with us. Doucepe is the last thing I downloaded, so that'll have to tide me over until then.

Ohno's a versatile actor ne? Kenta's a complete 180 from Naruse. And Utaoni sounds pretty good from what you're saying. I want to hear Ohno talk, since he barely does. I guess I'll just have to wait...

I prefer watching things subbed; it's just not the same when it's dubbed.

I agree with you in regards to hardsubs, I prefer them to soft any day but sometimes I just cant wait..

I wish the tv stations In australia would show a little interest in some J dramas it would be so much better then the crap they serve us now.

I've heard about Nobuta wo Produce too, and some rumors about 1 Litre of Tears and Kurosagi. But I hardly even watch TV anymore, so what do I know. Oh man, I think my experience with F4 mania was one of the most insane I've never had. And to think I was just in high school back then. :O

LOL, you're watching everything I want to watch! Voice and Mei-chan, Love Shuffle and Akai Ito. :D I cannot wait for Mei-chan, so I'm sticking with softsubs first. All the other three will have to wait (except Akai, since it's already started with hardsubs). I'm sure I have no problems with UtaOni. :D

I also love the Kenta-dad thing going on. Haha. XD
